Pink Plankton

La Paz in Bolivia is an interesting place.  The core of the city is basically one big market, where everything is sold on the streets.  There's areas for clothing, areas for shoes, entire streets of hygiene products, tables, electronics, and other household items... but one really interesting area is the Witches' Market.  Here you'll find all sorts of interesting things: weird figures, potions, sacred plants, etc.  Perhaps the thing that stands out most at these shops is the dried llama fetuses.  Many Bolivians will offer a llama fetus to Pachamama (Mother Earth) when building a new home, in order to bring their family good luck. While passing through the market, my only wish was that I spoke better Spanish, to be able to ask the shop owners the meanings of all the other unusual things being sold.
