One of the most unique urbex spots on the Riviera Maya sits right on the beach in the centre of Playa del Carmen, and most locals don't even know it's there. The abandoned pyramid mansion belonged to a doctor from Mérida, who lived in it sometime in the early '90s. A nearby beach club also rented it out for parties thrown for high-profile clients — at least according to one local who attended one of them back in the day.
The property has been for sale for a while now. It's prime beachfront location, which begs the question of why nobody has bought it. There isn't much to it — two floors, every piece of furniture stripped out, open space and not a lot else. The first floor is where it gets good: a hot tub, and Egyptian artwork still on the walls.
It is located here. Access is straight off the beach. At the time of writing there was a low fence, easy enough to step over, and no security.
That stage down there is where the stripper pole would have been.
